Lovecraft-parody Munchkin: fight cosmic horrors, steal their stuff and stab your friends in the back.
Who it's for
You know and like Munchkin, or you want a goofy card game for a group of friends who enjoy teasing each other. Best with four or five.
Not for you if…
You dislike long, back-and-forth games or hate being ganged up on. It can drag when players are evenly matched.
Vibe's take
Rowdy, silly and a little unfair on purpose. The game is basically a vehicle for arguments, bargains and cackling betrayals, and the winner often matters less than the story.
Munchkin Cthulhu is a standalone Munchkin game that makes fun of Lovecraft and every horror RPG cliché. If you know Munchkin, the loop is the same: kick open the door, fight the monster or run away, grab the treasure, and rush to the top level before anyone else. This time the monsters are tentacled things from beyond, there are four new classes including the Cultist, and the loot comes straight off their twitching bodies. You cheat, backstab, trade deals and ruin friendships with a smile. It mixes with other Munchkin sets if you want even more mayhem. Treat the rules as suggestions, the jokes as the point.
