Vampires, mad scientists, werewolves, and giant ants smash bases in a silly mash-up of horror classics.
Who it's for
You already like Smash Up or want to try it with a classic monster theme. Fun for pairs and, when mixed with other sets, groups of up to four.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a deep strategy game or dislike take-that cards. The fun is in silly combos and the occasional mean swing.
Vibe's take
Light, silly, and tactical. You mix two factions, fight over bases, and enjoy the odd combos you discover when horror-movie monsters collide.
Smash Up: Monster Smash adds four creature factions to the Smash Up card game: vampires, mad scientists, werewolves, and giant ants. As always, you shuffle two factions into one deck and then play minions and actions on shared bases, trying to be the one with the most power when a base breaks. Vampires get stronger as minions die, mad scientists pump up their creations, werewolves just smash, and the ants share the power around as one hive. It stands alone for two players, or you can mix it with other Smash Up sets for up to four. If you like the silly mash-up idea of the original, this set brings a good dose of horror-movie fun.
