Roll medieval dice and then really build your city with chunky 3D pieces.
Who it's for
You like dice games but want something to show for it at the end, and a bit of friendly meanness does not scare you. Works well at two or four.
Not for you ifβ¦
You dislike being attacked or want a calm, purely cooperative evening. The take-that elements are real.
Vibe's take
Busy and tactile, with the push-your-luck thrill of rerolls and the pleasure of a growing town. The extortion and attack options mean you will sometimes be glared at.
Era: Medieval Age is a roll-and-build, and the building is real. Your dice stand for classes of medieval society, and you roll, reroll and lock them to get farmers, builders and nobles working for you. Then you actually put chunky 3D walls, keeps and farms onto your own city board, so every player ends up with a unique little town. It is the spiritual successor to Roll Through the Ages, but with more physical bits and a mean streak: you can extort, hit rivals and take your chances with push-your-luck rolls. Everyone acts at the same time, which keeps the table lively. Add a solo mode and a medieval look that suits the table well.
