Merchant, pirate and Navy in one hand: deliver goods, steal them and sink your rivals' raiders.
Who it's for
You like pirates, bluffing and a little mischief across a map. Best with four who enjoy raids and ambushes.
Not for you ifβ¦
You dislike take-that moments or being targeted. Ships get sunk and loot gets stolen, so you will lose things.
Vibe's take
Scheming and swashbuckling. You juggle three roles, lining up a haul while someone else sets an ambush. The fortune cards add mischief, and every successful raid feels satisfying.
Black Fleet gives each player three kinds of ships on the Caribbean: a merchant that earns doubloons by hauling goods between ports, a pirate that attacks merchants and buries stolen loot on islands, and Navy ships that sink opponents' pirates. You make money in all three roles at once, and what you earn buys advancement cards that give your ships new abilities. Fortune cards and combos let you outwit rivals, and a captured ship demands ransom. It is a tactical card-driven game with more cat and mouse than combat spreadsheet. Piracy with a real sense of fun, for three or four.
