Move Varys across the court and snatch support before your rival can.
Who it's for
You want a two-player card game with a Game of Thrones skin and a fast, thinky duel. Good for fans of the series who like smart little puzzles.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a big political strategy game with betrayals and negotiation. This is a compact abstract grid game.
Vibe's take
A tidy, tricky tug-of-war: every move that helps you also sets up your opponent, so you spend your turns thinking one step ahead. Sharper than its light weight suggests.
The king wants a new Hand, and you are one of the schemers who would love the job. A Game of Thrones: Hand of the King is a two-to-four-player card game set in the court of King's Landing, where you send Varys across a grid of character cards, grabbing supporters as you go. The twist is that you can only take cards from the row or column your move ends in, so you constantly think about what you leave behind for the next player. Collect the most support from each character to win their banners. It plays in about half an hour and is especially good with two, a tidy duel of nudging and snatching.
