Send supporters to the fair's five areas, scoop up exhibit cards and build the best reputation in Chicago.
Who it's for
You like tidy drafting and majority games with a historical flavour. Plays well at four, when the competition for areas gets tight.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want lots of table talk or a deep economic engine. It is a card-driven game with limited depth in its theme.
Vibe's take
Brisk and tactical. Each pick changes what's left behind, so you read the board and your neighbours at the same time. It feels like a clean puzzle with an undercurrent of rivalry.
World's Fair 1893 puts you in charge of organising the great Chicago exhibition, with a reputation to build among electricity, fine arts and three other fields of display. On your turn you send one of your supporters to an area of the fair and pick up all the cards waiting there, then fresh cards are dealt out before the next player takes a turn. Cards may be exhibit proposals, influential people who give you extra supporters, or tickets for Midway attractions. Collect the right sets, win the majority in key areas and the exhibits you land will make your name. It's a smart, quick drafting and set-collection game where your choices also shape what others will find.
