A deck-builder where the only cards that score are the ones you bury in your tomb.
Who it's for
You like deck-builders with a twist and want a decision beyond just buying the best card. Excellent for two who enjoy timing puzzles.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want lots of player interaction or a rich story. It is a solid optimization deck-builder, quiet at the table.
Vibe's take
Thoughtful and tense in a tidy way. Each turn is a small puzzle of buy, play and bury, and the real fun is the end-game timing of when to start entombing. Interaction is mostly sniping cards from the pyramid.
In Valley of the Kings you play an ancient Egyptian noble planning an impressive burial, and you can take it with you, as long as you actually bury it. You start with a small deck and buy better cards from a pyramid of offers that crumbles as you buy from its base, pulling higher cards down to buy. Cards do things when played, but only the ones you stash away in your tomb score points. That is the tension: use a good card again and again, or entomb it for points and lose its power. A clean deck-builder with an Egyptian theme and a real push-pull between engine and score.
