Trade, ship goods down the Danube and win influence in Renaissance Ulm.
Who it's for
You like mid-weight strategy with a historical setting and an unusual action mechanism. Great with three players.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a very theme-driven story or a quick game. Under the Renaissance skin, this is a puzzly majority game.
Vibe's take
Thoughtful and a bit abstract under the history: you chase majorities and sets while a sliding mechanism keeps rearranging your options. Turns are short, but the planning runs deep.
In early sixteenth-century Ulm, a free imperial city at its prime, you play a citizen trying to get rich and respected. Wood, wine, salt and textiles float down the Danube on barges and rafts, art is traded, and the cathedral grows toward the tallest church steeple around. A distinctive slide-and-push mechanism shifts what is on offer, so each move changes what you can do next and planning feels like a small puzzle. You collect sets, compete for influence in the city and treat points themselves as a resource you can spend. A thoughtful but not heavy strategy game, best with three players, around seventy-five minutes.
