Race two hikers up a mountain while a spinning monster rolls down to sweep them off the trail.
Who it's for
Your kids are around six and want a race with a monster, and you like old-school toy-box spectacle. Good for a rainy afternoon with two to four players.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want strategy or a long game. Cards steer your options, and the Rex can undo your progress in a heartbeat.
Vibe's take
Light, noisy, and full of reversals. You inch upward, then someone releases Tornado Rex and everybody watches to see who gets swept off.
A three-dimensional race up a mountain trail, in the spirit of Fireball Island. Each of you has two hikers trying to reach the top first. On your turn you draw a card that tells you what you can do: move forward, move backward, switch places with another hiker, and so on. The cards also decide when Tornado Rex is let loose. He is a spinning creature that careens down the trail and knocks off any hiker he happens to hit, sending them back down. The hiking is the setup and the Rex is the punchline, with a lot of tabletop drama in between. Meant for kids around six and up, with adults along for the ride.
