A Yahtzee-style dice game where every combo you roll buys a court character who makes your next rolls better.
Who it's for
You like Yahtzee or Kniffel but want it to build toward something. A good dice game for groups of three that are not afraid of luck.
Not for you ifβ¦
You dislike luck-heavy dice rolling or want lots of player interaction. Everyone mostly plays their own court.
Vibe's take
Light and engaging. The fun is in the dice-chasing and in building an engine of helpful characters. Luck swings every roll, but deciding which character to go for gives it a spine.
To Court the King is a dice game dressed up as palace intrigue. You are a petitioner trying to win the king's favor, but first you have to impress the servants, who introduce you to the nobles, who might put in a word with the king. On your turn you roll your dice, set some aside, re-roll the rest, and then pick a character whose dice requirement you fulfilled: two pairs, a straight, a total of 30. Each character you collect improves your future rolls, giving extra dice or letting you tweak results. Think of Yahtzee with an actual reason to keep playing. The game ends when someone wins over the Queen, followed by a final roll-off.
