One of you is already infected, and the only way to survive is figuring out who before the cold does.
Who it's for
Horror movie fans and social deduction groups who want maximum paranoia with a full table of seven or eight.
Not for you ifβ¦
You dislike constant suspicion and accusation among friends, or prefer smaller player counts over a packed table.
Vibe's take
paranoid, tense, atmospheric, suspicious, dark
The Thing: The Boardgame recreates the paranoia of the film almost exactly: one of you starts as the Thing, secretly infecting others while everyone else tries to figure out who's still human before it's too late. You manage Outpost 31 room by room, keeping the generator running and the boiler lit so the cold doesn't finish what the Thing started, while every action you take might reveal you or accuse someone else. The Thing can win by escaping disguised as human, by sabotaging survival, or simply by infecting everyone, and it plays its cards close no matter which route it takes. Best with a full table of seven or eight, where the constant not-knowing turns every shared task into a small standoff.
