A roll-and-write where you breed ever-friendlier foxes, inspired by a real experiment.
Who it's for
You like roll-and-writes with a real story and enjoy planning around dice. A good pick for animal lovers who want something thinky.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want lively table talk or direct interaction. Everyone fills their own sheet, and luck with dice matters.
Vibe's take
Thoughtful and a bit nerdy. You plan which parents to pair, hope the dice cooperate, and watch your sheet fill with cuter and cuter foxes. Calm table, quiet satisfaction.
In 1958 two Soviet scientists began breeding foxes for friendliness alone, and within a few generations the animals grew spots, floppy ears and curly tails. The Fox Experiment lets you run your own version. Each round you pick a pair of fox parents with the traits you want, dice and drafting shape the pups, and you record the results on your own sheet, nudging your line toward the friendliest, most domesticated foxes. It is a roll-and-write with a real-life story behind it, for one to four players and about an hour. There is a solo mode for the geneticist who likes to work alone.
