A game played in near-darkness where hidden shadow creatures sneak past a lantern-wielding seeker.
Who it's for
Families and kids who love a spooky, atmospheric hide-and-seek twist that turns off the lights for real.
Not for you ifβ¦
Playing in a darkened room or handling a real light source during the game feels impractical for your setup.
Vibe's take
eerie, tense, cooperative, atmospheric, quick
Shadows in the Forest plays out in near-total darkness, lit only by a single lantern sweeping across a forest of little wooden trees. Most players are shadowlings, silently sliding their pieces from shadow to shadow, trying to gather everyone behind one tree without ever getting caught in the light. One player is the Seeker, hunting by lantern glow alone, reading the faint shifts of shape and shadow to guess where you have gone. It plays fast, feels genuinely eerie for a family game, and turns a normal table into something closer to a campfire story.
