A spooky-but-friendly chase through a haunted wood, with a magnetic ghost on the prowl.
Who it's for
You have kids from about five who love spooky stories but not real scares. Also good as a parent-and-child game with a Halloween mood.
Not for you if…
You want depth or a game that grown-ups play for themselves. It is simple and chance-driven, made with young children in mind.
Vibe's take
Shivery and giggly rather than scary. Kids get a gentle thrill from being chased, and the magnets add a tactile surprise.
In the old ruined castle, the ghost used to be the one being scared by children. Not any more. In Geisterwäldchen (Ghost Forest) the children have hidden in a mysterious wood and the ghost circles around it, looking for someone to catch. Magnets inside the figures play a big part in the chase, and a bit of memory comes into it too, so you need to keep track of what is going on rather than just rolling and hoping. It is a children's chase game for ages five and up, up to six at the table, and the game has a nicely spooky look without being truly frightening. Adults who join in will find it simple and quick, but the shivery pursuit works well for kids.
