Seven samurai, one village, and way too many bandits: a short co-op that makes you gamble for the group.
Who it's for
You enjoy co-op games where the whole table argues over a risky call. Great for big groups, since it handles up to seven.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a long, story-rich campaign or you dislike push-your-luck decisions. Here everything is quick, tense, and a bit swingy.
Vibe's take
Tense and tactical in a compact package. You constantly weigh your own wounds against the village's safety, and the table talks over who takes the heavy hit.
Samurai Spirit is a cooperative defense of one frightened village against waves of bandits, with up to seven players each controlling a samurai. It is short, brisk, and a little cruel: on your turn you draw cards, decide which bandits to fight, and bargain over who takes the hits. The seven of you are outnumbered, so you push your luck, take wounds, and eventually unleash a samurai's inner beast when things look dire. Solo is possible, but it really shines when a group argues over who covers the weak wall. Expect a tense, slightly chaotic finish where the whole table either survives together or falls together.
