Work out which monk is the murderer by wandering the abbey, asking questions and keeping careful notes.
Who it's for
You like Clue but want more deduction and a medieval setting. Works well for a patient group of four or five who enjoy notepads and logic.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a quick game or dislike keeping notes. It is a long deduction session, and a missed answer can derail you.
Vibe's take
Thoughtful and slightly theatrical, with whispered questions in cassocks and sudden vows of silence. Cleverly kept notes give you the edge, and Mass keeps the table shuffling.
Mystery of the Abbey is a whodunit in the spirit of Clue, set in a medieval French abbey where a monk has been murdered. You walk through the abbey, ask the monks around you questions, and piece together who did it. Each monk has traits: his order, his title, whether he is fat or thin, bald or hooded, bearded or clean shaven. One monk card is hidden, and the rest are dealt out, so a question like 'how many fat monks do you hold?' narrows the field. Players may answer truthfully or take a vow of silence. Every few turns, Mass sends everyone back to the Sanctuary, an event is read and cards are passed around.
