Draft a Roman army of legionaries, doctors and mercenaries before your rivals do.
Who it's for
You enjoy compact card drafting with a historical setting and want something a bit off the beaten path. Good for a pair or a small group.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a famous, widely tested game or deep strategy. It is a light, low-profile title.
Vibe's take
Brisk and tidy, with the satisfying pull of picking what your rivals also want. Short turns keep the pace up, and it feels like a small tactical puzzle in a compact box.
In Lusitania you are a Roman general under Julius Caesar, sent to raise an army against the stubborn tribes of the Iberian west. You recruit and equip legionaries, doctors, gunners and barbarian mercenaries, drafting cards from an open display and building sets that work together. The game is quick, around twenty minutes, and the choices are about what to take now and what to leave for your rivals. The publisher is small and the game has few ratings, so expect a lesser-known gem rather than a famous classic. It suits two to four players who like card drafting with a Roman flavour, and it plays smoothly at the table.
