Collect adventurer sets, roll dice, and capture goblins, trolls, and dragons in an enchanted forest.
Who it's for
You want a light fantasy card game for a family with kids around eight, with some risk to push. Easy to play with mixed ages.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want deep strategy. Luck with the dice is a big part, and the game is intentionally light.
Vibe's take
Light and gambling-flavored. You count your odds, decide when to be bold, and groan or cheer at the dice.
Dragonwood is a card game where you collect sets of adventurers and use them to fight creatures in a fantasy forest. On your turn you either draw a card or try to capture a creature or an enhancement. Your cards turn into dice: lay down a set or a run of adventurers, and you roll dice to beat the creature's number. Stomp on fire ants, scream at a grumpy troll, or strike a dragon with a silver sword. The tension comes from deciding how many dice you can afford to roll and whether to go for the big prize. It is light, a bit gambly, and good for families with kids from about eight.
