Raid a troll's lair with a party of heroes and grab the loot before rivals and monsters do.
Who it's for
You want a lighter fantasy dungeon-raid with real tactics but no long rulebook. Good if you like Tolkien-style loot hunts with a bit of backstabbing.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a campaign-style dungeon crawler with leveling and a story. This is a short, competitive loot race.
Vibe's take
Quick and tactical, with a steady push of risk against reward as you spend action points. Expect some friendly shoving of monsters onto rival heroes and quite a bit of table talk.
You lead a party of adventurers into the lair of a cave troll β knights, dwarves, thieves and friends β to haul out as much gold and as many magical artifacts as you can. The catch is that you are not the only one in there: rivals are eyeing the same loot, and orcs, wraiths and the troll himself wander around with their own opinions about trespassers. Cave Troll is a fast, lighthearted dungeon-crawl without the fiddly rules: you spend action points to move your heroes through the lair, grab treasure, and sometimes push monsters into rival parties. Think of it as a dungeon heist with plenty of elbows. It is from Tom Jolly, who also designed Drakon.
