Explore Baldur's Gate as a team until a traitor appears and the real fight begins.
Who it's for
You like Dungeons & Dragons flavour, spooky stories and games that go off the rails. Great for five or six friends who enjoy roleplay and big dramatic reveals.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a polished, balanced strategy game or you dislike hidden-traitor twists. Also skip it for two players, since it needs a group.
Vibe's take
Spooky, silly and theatrical. The first half builds tension as you wander, then the traitor moment lands like a thunderclap and everyone starts bluffing, scheming and rolling handfuls of dice.
Betrayal at Baldur's Gate takes the haunted-house idea of Betrayal at House on the Hill and drops it into the famous city of Dungeons & Dragons. You explore alleys and catacombs together, building the map as you go, and the dark shadow of Bhaal summons monsters. For a while you work as a team, then something turns one or more of you against the others, and the game flips from co-op exploration to a tense fight with someone who was your friend a minute ago. Each time you play, the story changes. It suits five or six players who enjoy roleplay and chaos, and it has a lot of dice rolling.
