Kids around five to eight who want a proper race across a board and are fine with a die deciding most of it.
Not for you if…
Take-that upsets younger players at your table, since losing a treasure to the pirate flag stings. Also a 2003 title with 24 BGG ratings and no current print run.
Vibe's take
Light and swingy, with cheers on a storm swap and real groans when the pirate flag comes up. Short enough that a bad start never feels final.
About this game
A boat race between islands where the die decides how far the waves carry you. Every island hands out a different kind of treasure, and the first captain holding one of each wins. A storm face lets you swap places with any other boat, and the pirate flag takes a treasure away from someone.
