Race to link five European cities by rail before anyone else lays the final track.
Who it's for
You like Ticket to Ride but want something shorter and simpler. Good for travelers who enjoy tracing routes across Europe.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want engine-building or deep strategy. It is a race with light blocking, and the results can swing on a lucky city draw.
Vibe's take
A light, tracking-the-rails race. You grumble when an opponent cuts across your plan, but each round is short enough to recover.
Trans Europa is a simple railway game where you do not build a rail empire, you just try to connect five cities faster than everybody else. Each player gets a set of five cities spread across Europe, and on your turn you lay one or two rail pieces, extending your network and quietly using other people's tracks to your advantage. The first to link all five wins the round, and everyone else loses points for being too slow. After three or four rounds, the player with the most points wins. A colored-rail variant lets you place pieces that count only for you. It is a gentle race for 2 to 6 players, with a little blocking, and it fits perfectly into twenty minutes.
