WWII tactical wargame with plastic soldiers, modular hex maps and scenario-driven battles.
Who it's for
You enjoy miniatures wargames, historical settings and tense head-to-head battles. Best for two committed players with an evening to spare.
Not for you ifβ¦
You dislike long setups, rulebooks and dice-heavy combat. It is a big box with plenty of components to wrangle.
Vibe's take
Tactical and tense, with plenty of dice drama and big swings. Moving your tanks and squads into cover feels satisfying, and every scenario plays a bit differently.
Tide of Iron is a big tabletop World War II battle game for two to four players, set in northern Europe in 1944 and 1945. American and German forces clash across a modular hex map using lots of plastic soldiers, tanks and heavy weapons. Each scenario sets the map, forces and victory conditions, so the game is really a collection of different battles in one box. You spend action points to move and fight, play command cards for special moves, and roll dice to see how bullets land. It is a two-hour commitment with real tactical depth, best as a head-to-head between two commanders who care about the details.
