Race to rebuild a pattern with colored blocks, by sight, by dice and by memory.
Who it's for
Kids from eight and the adults who play with them, in a game where quick eyes beat experience. Best with four.
Not for you if…
You want strategy or calm thinking. It is a speed puzzle, and people who dislike time pressure will find it stressful.
Vibe's take
Frantic, tactile and silly. Everyone is staring at their own blocks, muttering, and then a triumphant slap of the final cube.
Q•bitz is a speedy pattern game with colored blocks. A card shows a design, and everyone races to arrange their own set of blocks to match it, with the first to finish claiming the card. In round two you roll your blocks like dice and have to work with whatever faces turn up. In round three, you stare at the card for ten seconds, then rebuild the design from memory, and the player who recreated more of it wins that card. It's tactile, noisy and a bit frantic, and the three variations keep it from getting stale. Kids and adults are surprisingly evenly matched, since quick eyes matter more than experience.
