A month of bills and bargains on a 31-day calendar, with the most cash winning.
Who it's for
Kids who are curious about money and adults who enjoy a nostalgic roll-and-move. It works for older children in a family game session.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want much choice or challenge. Dice and cards decide the outcome, and the 1974 design shows its age.
Vibe's take
Light, silly, and heavily luck-driven. The fun comes from groaning at surprise bills and gleefully pouncing on a good deal.
Pay Day turns a month of adult life into a board game, which sounds grim and is actually just silly. The board is a 31-day calendar. You move along it, open bills, and hope to land on deals that make you some money. At month's end you collect your salary, then pay everything that is owed, borrowing from the bank if you come up short. Play three months and the player with the most cash, or the least debt, wins. It is a very light 1974 game that runs on luck and a chuckle at the mailbox. Younger players can handle it, and it is fine if you want a mild, nostalgic roll-and-move.
