Play hidden cards and bluff your way to the French throne.
Who it's for
You like bluffing and a little mischief, and you want something compact with three to five players. Great if you enjoy reading the table.
Not for you ifβ¦
You dislike take-that moves or you play with two. It needs a group to bluff against.
Vibe's take
Sly and tense, with a lot of glances across the table before a reveal. The outcomes are sharp, quick and a bit mean.
Oriflamme is a card game of medieval intrigue in which the French crown is up for grabs and nobody can be trusted. You play as the head of an influential family. Your cards go down hidden, one at a time, and at the right moment you reveal one and trigger its effect, hoping it knocks out a rival's card or boosts your own. The family with the most influence at the end wins. It is a bluffing game with light betting and a lot of table talk, where timing a reveal matters more than the cards themselves. Short enough for a quick game, and with three to five players it creates good tension and a little cruelty.
