Who it's for

You like Knizia-style card tension and want it on a board that feels like an adventure. Three or four players give the richest discard fights.

Not for you if…

You expect the two-player card game feel unchanged. The board, three rounds and monument scoring make this a different, slightly heavier game.

Vibe's take

Calm, thoughtful and quietly tense. Every discard feeds the table or the trap, and the final-round squeeze makes you wince at your own hand.

About this game

Reiner Knizia's Lost Cities, but on a proper board: you lead expeditions along five colored paths and each card you play pushes a piece one step further. The cards have to be played in rising order within a color, so you are constantly deciding whether to commit now or hold out for a better number. You play three rounds, and the monuments you collect count in the final score. There are also the choices of when to take a card from the open display and when to feed your opponents by discarding the wrong one. It's a tidy, thoughtful push through the jungle that is lighter than it looks and still has teeth.
