Queue in front of empty shops in communist Poland and hope the delivery lands at your spot.
Who it's for
You like thematic games with a historical angle and a dose of dark humour. Particularly fun with four or five who enjoy playing mind games.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a calm, calculable game. Deliveries are unpredictable, and a lot depends on guessing what the others will do.
Vibe's take
A comedy of frustration that is also surprisingly tactical. You bluff about where to queue, curse when a delivery goes to the shop next door, and laugh anyway.
Kolejka puts you in a queue in Poland at the tail end of the Communist era, and it is surprisingly fun. You send family members to five neighbourhood shops to buy everything on a shopping list. The problem: the shelves are empty. You line up your pawns in front of the shops without knowing which one will get a delivery, then product delivery cards are revealed, and there are only enough goods for the lucky few at the front of the line. It is a game of waiting, bluffing, grabbing the right spot and sometimes shoving ahead. It is clever, a bit satirical and a surprisingly honest peek at everyday life of the time.
