Race for the Galaxy in short form: play cards, settle worlds, find combos.
Who it's for
You like Race for the Galaxy but want a shorter and lighter version, or you want a tight card engine builder for two to four players.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a big sprawling space epic. It is a compact card engine, and hard choices about discards are the whole point.
Vibe's take
Snappy puzzle of card combos with a small engine that hums faster each turn. You spend most of the time wondering which card to burn and which to build.
Jump Drive is the fast, stripped-down cousin of Race for the Galaxy, and it stands on its own. You build a space empire out of cards, developing technologies and settling worlds, and every card in your hand can either be played or burned to pay for something else. Income keeps your hand stocked, and everyone picks actions at the same time, so the game moves quickly. The fun lies in finding combos between the cards, noticing which synergy your opponents are heading for, and squeezing one more turn out of a small engine. It plays in around half an hour and suits people who like card engines but want less rules baggage than the original.
