A one-player negotiation puzzle where every sentence could save or doom a hostage.
Who it's for
You want a solo game with a serious, dramatic theme and real tension, or you enjoy tough luck-versus-skill puzzles.
Not for you ifβ¦
You dislike heavy themes such as hostage situations, or you need a multiplayer game. This one is for one grown-up player only.
Vibe's take
Tense and clever: you build a conversation card by card, push the dice and hope the hostage taker does not make a nasty counter-move. Winning feels like talking someone down from a ledge.
You are a police negotiator at a standoff, and the hostage taker will not give up easily. Each round is a conversation: you play cards and roll dice to build up conversation points, lower the threat level and slowly talk hostages out of danger. The cards you buy go straight into your hand for next turn, so you can plan your approach instead of waiting for a good shuffle. Meanwhile, the hostage taker has plans of their own and pressure keeps rising. It is a solo game with a grim theme, tense little dice choices and a surprising amount of drama in thirty minutes.
