Roll and wait for your moment: the later a token finishes, the more it scores, but the track is full of holes.
Who it's for
You want a very short abstract game with a clever scoring twist, the kind of thing two people can play over a coffee.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a big, deep strategy game. The die rules your moves, and the game is more about timing than long-term planning.
Vibe's take
A tight little standoff of nerve. Everyone wants someone else to step into the hole first, so the table fills with careful stalling and gleeful pouncing.
Four tokens each, one die, a short track with a few treacherous holes. That is Dorada. On your turn you roll and move one token, and the first piece to land on a hole is lost β but it plugs the hole, flipping to a safe space for everyone who follows. The twist that makes you think: the later a piece reaches the finish, the more points it scores, and pieces that never finish score nothing. So you want to wait as long as possible, but not too long, and you want your opponent to be the one who jumps first into a hole. A tiny game of nerves and timing with only a die and some tokens, over in about twenty minutes, with a surprising amount of bluff and brinkmanship.
