Fantasy deck-builder with a shared card row, new events and 200 fresh cards.
Who it's for
You like deck-building in the Dominion family but want a fantasy look and a changing row. A fine fit if you already own other Ascension sets.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want lots of table interaction or a story. It is a race of card combos and little else.
Vibe's take
Snappy and card-flippy: buy, fight, chain, repeat. The center row keeps changing, so you adapt every turn rather than follow a plan.
Ascension: Storm of Souls is a stand-alone set for the deck-builder Gary Games has been feeding for years. Samael is dead, yet monsters still roam Vigil and restless souls keep pouring in. You buy heroes and constructs from a shared row, fight monsters for honor and build your deck as it goes. This set brings 200 new cards and a new Event card type that shakes up the middle of the game. It plays alone, in 1 to 4 players, or mixes with other Ascension sets for up to six.
