A grim ice-age deck-builder where your tribe grows through scrappy fights over scarce supplies.
Who it's for
You like Dominion-style deck-building but want more bite and bluffing. Best with three or four players who don't mind a little backstabbing.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a peaceful engine-builder where everyone does their own thing. Here the fights can erase your plan, so it can feel harsh.
Vibe's take
Tense and scrappy rather than polite. You build slowly, then the skirmishes force you to guess and bluff what your opponents will commit. A bad dig hurts, and a good bluff feels great.
Arctic Scavengers drops you into a new ice age in 2097 as the leader of a small tribe of survivors. You build your tribe the way you would in a deck-builder: every turn you play cards to dig for supplies, hire mercenaries, buy tools and medicine, and fight over the loot in the middle. The twist is the skirmish, where you commit fighters face-to-face and can bluff about what you really sent. This edition bundles the base game with the HQ and Recon expansions, so each tribe gets a leader with special powers and a headquarters to grow. Whoever has the biggest tribe at the end wins. Expect scrappy, tense fights over scarce things, not a quiet engine-building evening.
