Play Norse gods who defend the world tree together against Fenrir, Loki and four other doom-bringers.
Who it's for
You like cooperative games with mythology and want to win by a whisker. Good if your group enjoys talking through plans together.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want to play against each other, or you dislike dice luck in a co-op. A dominant planner can also steer the whole table here.
Vibe's take
A steady drip of new threats that you contain together, a bit like plugging leaks in a ship. You plan as a team, roll dice with crossed fingers and cheer when one god's power lands at exactly the right moment.
In Yggdrasil you and your friends are Norse gods, and you are all in the same leaky boat. Odin, Thor, Tyr, Frey, Heimdall and Freyja stand against six doom-bringers, among them the wolf Fenrir, the serpent Jormungand, the fire giant Surt and the traitor Loki. Each turn an enemy card is drawn and one of them creeps a step closer, so the pressure never lets up. You spend actions, roll dice and collect sets to push them back, and each god has powers that only work properly when you coordinate. It is a cooperative game about teamwork under pressure, with a mythic backdrop and a real chance of losing. Plays alone or with up to six.
