Push your railroad west, deliver cargo and own shares in everyone else's tracks.
Who it's for
You enjoy train and route-building games, like planning ahead and want a mid-weight strategy session for around four players. Great step up from lighter railway titles.
Not for you if…
You want a quick, light game or a very heavy economic simulation. Also less fun if you dislike planning with limited actions and watching rivals benefit from your network.
Vibe's take
A thoughtful, tidy economic puzzle in which every action point feels precious. You watch rivals' tracks with half suspicion and half envy, since your choices can end up helping them. The final rush for long hauls adds tension.
In Whistle Stop you are building a railroad company that pushes west across America, one tile of track at a time. You lay routes, pick up valuable cargo, and deliver it to growing towns for cash and reputation. Along the way you buy shares in other players' railroads, which means your rivals' success can pay your bills too. Everything runs on a budget of action points, so each turn is a puzzle of what to do with too little time. Late in the game you rush to finish long hauls to far-flung destinations. Think Ticket to Ride with more math and railway baron energy, best with four.
