Who it's for

Trick-taking players and light wargamers who want a short, tense two-team card duel with real historical texture.

Not for you if…

You want a cooperative or purely competitive feel–Verdun's forced-help mechanic and casualty math ask for a colder, more calculating mindset.

Vibe's take

Grim and calculated–every trick carries weight, and the constant push-pull of helping your opponent while protecting your own position keeps tension high throughout.

About this game

Verdun reimagines the WWI battle as a tense trick-taking duel between German and French sides, playable 1v1 or as 2v2 partnerships. Some of the cards you're forced to play actually help your opponent, so timing your losses becomes as important as timing your wins. Teams alternate as Attacker across up to three rounds, fighting over fortifications and assets while trying to minimize their own casualties.
