Victorian gentlemen compete to destroy their own social standing in the most spectacular way.
Who it's for
You like hefty euros with a sly sense of humour, especially if you enjoyed Last Will. Best with four players who enjoy planning.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a quick or intuitive game. It takes time to learn, and the reversed goals can feel confusing at first.
Vibe's take
Dry-witted and thinky. You scheme to fail on purpose, which makes you read every board state twice. The humour is in the reversal, and the satisfaction in balancing three contests.
The Prodigals Club has you play a proper Victorian gentleman who has noticed that the lower classes have more fun, so you set about destroying your own social standing as thoroughly as possible. Three contests run side by side: lose an election, get rid of everything you own, and offend the most influential people in high society. You can combine any two, or run all three at once, and each one affects the others, which makes you balance your tactics instead of chasing a single goal. It is a clever reversal where losing is winning. It stands alone but is a thematic cousin of Last Will, with rules for combining them, and takes about an hour and forty minutes.
