Two actions a turn, four gates falling, and a whole table arguing about which disaster to ignore.
Who it's for
Cooperative groups of three or four who like fantasy and do not mind losing, and readers of Heitz who want the world on a table.
Not for you if…
You dislike dice deciding fights or one loud player steering everyone's turns, which this design invites. Fans of modern coops will find the components and rules writing distinctly of their era.
Vibe's take
Grim and tense in the good way, with the constant feeling of being one turn behind. The pressure comes from the map, not from a timer.
Based on Markus Heitz's novel, you play named dwarves defending Girdlegard together. Orcs, trolls and dark elves break through the gates every turn while the Perished Land creeps outward, and two action points per player is never enough to be everywhere.
