Your captain is dead, the aliens are shooting, and the crew has to fix the warp drive together.
Who it's for
You enjoy co-op games with a sci-fi TV vibe and a table that talks through every turn. Nice for a bigger crew, since it scales to seven.
Not for you ifβ¦
You dislike one loud player directing everyone else, or you want short rules. There's plenty to juggle, and it takes a while.
Vibe's take
Busy and tense, with everyone talking at once. You juggle repairs, positions, and card trades while events keep knocking the ship off its feet.
In The Captain Is Dead, the bridge crew of a starship has just lost its captain, a hostile alien ship is closing in, and the jump drive is offline. You and up to six crewmates must fix the Jump Core before the ship falls apart. Every turn you spend action points to run around the ship, repair systems, fight off boarders, or swap hands of cards with a teammate. Each crew member has a special skill, and each part of the ship gives a perk while it works. It plays like a TV episode where everything goes wrong in the last ten minutes, and the fun is in the frantic teamwork and the sacrifices you make.
