Sail out as a Viking captain, loot villages and storm castles with a mix of worker placement and dice combat.
Who it's for
You liked Champions of Midgard and want the raiding sequel with a little more punch. Good for four players who like an evening-sized strategy game.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want something short or light. Two hours and many moving parts make it a poor fit for a quick session.
Vibe's take
Meaty and busy: plenty of ways to improve your crew, with a dice-based edge that adds some tension to every fight. Planning is rewarded, but the dice keep you honest.
Reavers of Midgard takes the Viking port town from Champions of Midgard and sends its crew out to raid. You sail your longship to loot villages, storm castles and fight men and monsters on the open sea. Each round you place a single worker, roll dice in combat, and keep your crew fed with food packed for the trip. The Reavers are your elite warriors: they can lead your ship for a one-time bonus, strengthen your fighters, or be put to other uses. It mixes worker placement, dice fighting, set collection and engine building, and a full game runs about two hours. Plan to spend an evening on it, with plenty to optimise.
