Roll, bank, and gamble for grilled worms until a chicken goes hungry.
Who it's for
You want a short dice game where everyone from eight to eighty gets the rules in one round. Great for tables of three to five.
Not for you ifβ¦
You dislike luck-driven games or you want to plan ahead. It is dice, nerve and a bit of arithmetic, and the grill is not forgiving.
Vibe's take
Fast, jolly and full of gasps. Every turn is a gamble, and the table groans in unison when a bust happens.
Pickomino is a push-your-luck dice game about grilled worms and very hungry chickens. On your turn, you roll your dice, set aside every die showing one value, and roll the rest again. You can never pick the same value twice, and you need at least one worm to grab a tile. Stop when your total reaches a worm tile on the grill, or matches an opponent's top tile, and take it. Roll too long and you bust: you hand your latest tile back and the highest tile on the table flips face-down. Fast, jolly and just a little spiteful, because stealing someone's worms is half the fun. The usual Knizia gamble of one more roll, with a chicken theme that kids love and adults secretly do too.
