Roll dice, court the king's advisors and hope your dice army is big enough when winter's invaders show up.
Who it's for
Euro gamers who like worker placement with a dice twist and enjoy balancing economy against looming threats.
Not for you if…
You dislike dice deciding what options you have access to, since a bad roll here really does limit your turn.
Vibe's take
tactical, dice-driven, building, competitive, satisfyingly tense
Kingsburg drops you into a border province with a king who expects results: gold, timber, stone and soldiers, all squeezed out of a handful of advisors you have to out-roll or out-maneuver your rivals for. You roll dice each round and commit them to advisor spaces in ascending value, so nabbing the best help means either being lucky or being willing to pay for it in numbers. Every fourth turn winter arrives with an invading force sized to your total dice pool, and an underprepared province pays in victory points. This second edition polishes a modern worker-placement classic where careful building and risk management matter just as much as the roll.
