Slide your beetle, shove the rivals off the ring, and hope the edge likes you.
Who it's for
Two players who like dexterity games such as Crokinole and want something faster and goofier. Great if you enjoy a bit of friendly smack talk.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want deep strategy or a quiet game. It rewards a steady hand and rowdy reactions, not long-term planning.
Vibe's take
Quick and physical: you line up a shot, hold your breath, and then the whole table groans or cheers as pieces wobble. A little tactical, mostly a test of your fingers.
Kabuto Sumo throws rhinoceros beetles into a wrestling ring and lets you shove your opponents off it. The idea comes from coin-pusher arcade machines: instead of dropping quarters, you slide your beetle pieces onto the board and try to bump other players' pieces over the edge. Each beetle has its own power, so a good push depends on which bug you picked. A match lasts around fifteen minutes, and the fun is part dexterity, part trash talk. It works for two to four players, and best as a head-to-head duel. Expect loud reactions every time a piece teeters on the rim.
