A cooperative last stand against the Locust horde, with every mission playing like its own cinematic set piece.
Who it's for
Fans of the video game and cooperative miniature crawlers who want a long, tactical, campaign-driven evening.
Not for you ifβ¦
Three-hour sessions or dense rulebooks wear you out, since this is a genuine heavyweight commitment.
Vibe's take
intense, tactical, cinematic, heavy, cooperative
Gears of War: The Board Game brings the third-person-shooter's desperate last stand to the tabletop, and it does not pull punches on scale. One to four players take on COG soldiers, exploring a modular dungeon of tiles that reveal new rooms, ambushes and objectives as you push forward, while the Locust horde swarms in through variable, deck-driven AI. Every mission is its own tense set piece, weapons and abilities carry real tactical weight, and campaign play lets your squad's choices echo into later fights. At three hours a session and real rules density, this is a commitment, but it delivers exactly the cinematic, cover-based firefight tension the video game promises.
