Compete as an energy company for contracts while a shared pollution meter threatens everyone at once.
Who it's for
You like heavy strategy games with a real theme and a pinch of negotiation. A plus if you want to tackle an environmental topic through play.
Not for you if…
You want something light that is explained in ten minutes. It also drags if someone at the table dislikes shared losses and the arguments that come with them.
Vibe's take
Dense, thoughtful planning where you constantly weigh your own profit against the common good. It is tense because you do not quite trust the others, yet you need them.
CO₂ is set in the 1970s, when the world answered its hunger for energy with polluting power plants and nobody dared to slow down. You run a company with clean-energy expertise, proposing projects that regional governments are happy to fund. The catch is that the whole table shares one problem: if pollution climbs too high, everybody loses, no matter who has the best balance sheet. So you compete for influence and funding while also keeping the planet from tipping over. It is a heavy, planning-rich game with drafting, worker placement and majority fights, and it also has a solo mode.
