Vibe's take
puzzly, silly, tactical, light, family-friendly
Chickapig sounds like a joke and plays like a genuinely sharp abstract game, herd your six chicken-pig hybrids straight across the board to your pen while a die tells you how far you may travel in one direction. The real game is obstruction: hay bales, a wandering cow and, yes, cow poop get dropped in rivals' paths to force detours and pile-ups. It rewards spatial thinking closer to a sliding-block puzzle than a race, wrapped in a theme silly enough that kids buy in immediately. Co-created by musician Dave Matthews with designer Brian Calhoun, it is proof a farmyard pun can still hide a proper strategy game.
