Bid for stolen cargo in 1950s ports and get it into your warehouse before a rival family does.
Who it's for
You like gentle bluffing and bidding with a strong theme, and you enjoy trying to outguess rivals. Works well with four or five players.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want to build in peace without anyone messing with your plans. Port competition and bidding means your hopes can be undercut at any time.
Vibe's take
A tense game of reading other players: do you bid high, or skip to a quiet port? The noir style and shifting alliances make you feel like a crook in a trench coat.
Cargo Noir is a 1950s smuggling game set in the dockside shadows. You lead a crime family that trades in cargo that tends to go missing in places like Hong Kong, Bombay, Rotterdam and New York. Each turn you sail to a port and make an offer for the goods on display. If another family bids higher in the same port, you must raise or take your money and slink away. If you stand alone in a port, you can quietly move the goods from the dock into your own warehouse. By Serge Laget for Days of Wonder, it mixes bluffing, bidding and set collection with a very stylish noir look.
