Sharks, sea creatures and smugglers fight for Fame on a sea map you build as you sail.
Who it's for
You like Root-style asymmetry but want something a little more approachable, with dice and delivery instead of pure military maneuvering. Four players is its sweet spot.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a solitary, calm optimization puzzle. Ahoy is about reading and obstructing rivals, and learning each faction takes a game or two.
Vibe's take
Tactical and interactive. You place dice, deliver cargo, contest regions and constantly watch how your faction's scoring clashes with the others'. The map keeps changing under your feet, which keeps everyone adapting.
A pirate game under the sea, where the factions are sharks, sea creatures and smugglers, and the goal is Fame. One player leads the Bluefin Squadron, a navy of sharks and friends who enforce order. Another commands the Mollusk Union, undersea creatures fighting for their ancestral home. With more players, Smugglers join and run blockades to deliver goods to whoever pays best. You build the map as you go from double-layer region tiles, so treasure, wreckage and currents land somewhere different each game. Think of it as a lighter-weight cousin of the asymmetric games from the makers of Root and Oath: different goals per side, but with dice workers and cargo deliveries doing the heavy lifting.
