A pocket-sized empire builder where you lead up to three civilizations in one hour.
Who it's for
You like civilization themes but want them in one evening, with real decisions and no rules binder. Also good if you often play alone.
Not for you ifβ¦
You want a sprawling empire sim with wars, maps and negotiation. This one is compact and mostly a race of efficient planning.
Vibe's take
Tight and puzzly, with a clear arc from early expansion to a rush of scoring. Every round you weigh a small gain now against a clean restart later.
Age of Civilization squeezes a sweep of history into about an hour. Over six rounds you lead not one empire but up to three, rising, merging and passing the torch on. Your workers go onto action spaces to research technologies, raise wonders, trade with other players and push culture or military. The twist is timing: when you raise or annex a new civilization, your workforce resets, and you decide whether the newcomer becomes your main power or just lends you a legacy ability. Think of a pocket-sized civilization game, closer to a tight worker-placement puzzle than to a four-hour epic. There is a solo mode too, if you prefer to rewrite history without company.
