Who it's for

Trick-taking fans who want a compact, quick-to-reset variant with a clever twist on hand composition between tricks.

Not for you if…

If you're new to trick-taking mechanics generally, the may-follow drafting-back system adds a layer of bookkeeping that traditional trick-takers don't have.

Vibe's take

Sharp and calculating despite the short runtime β€” because reclaimed discs go back into your hand face-down, you're constantly tracking what could still be out there, and the score-halving threshold adds a real should-I-stop-now tension.

About this game

12 Chip Trick is a trick-taking game built around 12 numbered discs instead of cards, where the trick winner drafts the disc face-up into a permanent collection while everyone else quietly reclaims theirs face-down back into hand. It's a "may follow" system, so you're not locked into suit β€” every trick reshuffles who holds which numbers for the next round. Scoring rewards restraint too: cross 21 points and your total gets cut in half.
